[RESULTS UP!!!] ASSIGNMENT 8 ~ CAGED ~

Elasticgirl Comments: I really like this photo. I like the pose and definitely think it is very high fashion. I love the haircut and the makeup and the simple bracelet. But honestly, if it weren’t for your description, I wouldn’t really understand how she was ‘caged.’ But the more I look at it, the more I see what you described and I can’t agree more with your description. The only things that really bother me are 1) your models nails are too long because her index finger’s nail is going through her skin and just doesn’t look good there. And 2) the dress is a little distracting when it is reflected on 4 different versions of Charlie. I think this would look much better if her reflections wore more subdued dresses that didn’t have those fancy white/leather type of shadows because that really diverts the eye. Also, because the reflections of your model are completely identical to the main focus of Charlie, the main focus of Charlie doesn’t pop or stand out in anyway. If she somehow did, this photo would have scored much higher. And lastly, I just feel like she could use some shadows and highlights on her body. For example, her face is hanging over her shoulders, so a subtle shadow/redefining of the current shadows around her neck and under her chin would be superb!! Oh and also, looking at this photo again, the Charlie behind the main focus Charlie is a little awkward because her arm is not blurred and right behind the main focus Charlie’s arm. This makes the main focus Charlie’s arm look super awkward and as if she has two arms from one shoulder!! Other than that, beautiful job!
Nicolla’s Comments: I think you had a fret concept and I saw where you were going, but for me, it just didn't execute. I don't really see this in a Vogue magazine or Hugh Fashion spread, and I'm not sure the clothing nor accessories went quite a high fashion direction. I wish I could have seen the pain in Charlie's eyes but they are closed, I can see a little bit from the moth and cheek tension, but the expression was hard to tell. It also doesn't really look like she's trapped, I mean I get where you were going, but like I said, I don't think it executed. There were some places to fix quality and Crease's on Charlie's body and her hair was very grainy, also the blur from the rest of the photo is sort of decreasing the main Charlie's body quality. I like how you thought to dress her, but I'm not going to lie, she looked a little bit like a stripper, I would've loved to see something more creative like last week, and this is definitely not one of your best photos. For me your in danger, I don't know what the other judges have put down, but if you make it to next week, make sure you really are careful and put your heart into the assignment.

Elasticgirl Comments: Nice job! Your model is stunning and super high fashion. I love her dress, the patterns, the colors, the ribbons, and the continuity of patterns. This photo definitely makes your model look like she is living a life that might not exactly be the one she wants to live. You can tell this because in her eyes, there is a pained expression, especially with her eyebrows tilted down at an angle and her mouth slightly opened. Now, the things I thing can be improved upon in this photo. 1) On the inside of her right arm, you can see the line of her arm (which is due to graphics and the actual pose itself). If you would’ve smoothed that line out to make her arm more continuous, it would be superb. 2) With this pose, your model’s booty tooch is a little way too big. Her butt honestly looks like it exploded or she got silicon inserted in both cheeks. LOL her butt is way too big and not sexy at all. Also, the tail of the dress is distorted with this pose and so the lines in the bottom totally contradict all the other pattern continuity in this photo. And lastly, 3) I understand after reading your description that the ribbons are like the chains that look so smooth but actually chain her to the world she is forced to live in. BUT the first time I looked at this photo, I didn’t see that at all in this photo. Rather, I saw a beautiful high fashion photo of a model leisurely posing with these massive ribbons engulfing her in their warm embrace. Sooooo it might just be me, but I think this photo could have better delivery—especially since those lush ribbons are very deceptive.

Nicolla’s Comments: I was hoping for a bit more from you but I can see where you were going. I love the dress an makeup you put her in. The hair was sort of cool and I like how you added extra. I love Kea's pained expression although I would've loved to see another ribbon on her other arm to show how she is being held back. You definitely went for what the assignment was, a little to literally, I was hoping for a little more outside the box but hey, ribbons are pretty creative! The quality of her dress and hair needed some fixing. Overall I'm not sure...It's a pretty average photo but I would've loved to see a background and some dimension to the photo.

Elasticgirl Comments: Okay I am just going to go down a list of all the qualities in this photo because I really love it. Firstly, this is the most high fashion photo of this week and the most high fashion photo you have ever submitted. Congrats!!! Because that’s an amazing accomplishment I would say. Second, although I frickin’ love this pose, your model’s face doesn’t say anything. It’s rather bland and boring, something you should avoid. Also with regards to the pose, the hand holding on to the cage is very straight and not in any way curled around the handle. That’s a big no-no. I love the symbolism in this photo, with the heart in the cage. I also like how you took this photo a tad bit more literal than the other girls—which is good because you actually could pull it off. The quality is so frickin superb. You must have like the best graphics card ever or something, because that dress is sooooo super sharp as is everything else in this photo! Do you use the HQ mod? Overall, I really like the atmosphere in this photo; I really like all the cages hanging and the angle of the camera. It’s very good. Now about your model, I like the shadows and the dress (like I said) and her angle but there’s something off about it that I can’t really put my finger on. Maybe it is the facial expression but it might also be the pose itself. As much as I love this pose, I don’t think it shows any fierceness and power in your model. So maybe if she didn’t look like she was “pigeon toed’ and her legs were spread apart, she would look much more confident. Oh yeah and the cage in the top left hand corner is not at the same angle as the others. That’s another no-no because they should all be at the same angle. Otherwise, brilliant job. And I am super proud of you since from the beginning you said you always struggled with high fashion. Bravo!!

Nicolla’s Comments: YES YES YES!! I'm soooo happy to get such a good photo out of you! For me, this my favorite picture that you've made because you really stuck true to Jasmine while keeping within assignment range. The only things I would change are, take the heart out
Of the photo because it doesn't work for me and her expression is somewhat blank...again. Overall good job! I love this photo!

Elasticgirl Comments: I understand you were struggling a little this week but that doesn’t mean anything about your photo. I love the dress and the simplicity in this photo. In addition, the graphics are very good and high quality! I think the colors are also very cool and fit excellently with this photo. Now, although the pose is very high fashion Dana on the left doesn’t have any high fashion makeup at all. Her face is rather bland actually, especially since she kind of looks like she has a lazy eye. In addition, I like how you didn’t draw hair this time and I think it works, BUT Dana on the left should have had longer hair or a better choice of short hair because this rather looks very very awkward. Finally, I like your model in the mirror a lot but the hand on her face is soooooooo disproportionate that I can’t even tell you how much. It looks like a fat hand that was just plumped on to look like it’s attached to her body. Now I could be wrong, and this might actually be her hand, but it just looks horrible—honestly. Also, I feel like you could’ve added some highlights on Dana in the mirror—especially along her hand. And I just have one question: is Dana on the left supposed to be Dana in the mirror? Because if so, then why isn’t Dana on the left in front of the mirror? As if she is looking into the mirror at a different version of herself? Just wondering (:

Nicolla’s Comments: Now I'm not sure what the other judges are going to say but I've got to say I didn't really like it...it was...I don't like it...I love it. Pretty much perfect! I really LOVE it!!!! The clothes look HF! Their expressions are pretty amazing! Boths qualities are amazing! The only thing I didn't like was the thing under Dana's eye in the mirror and the hair look a little small for her. Otherwise! Hats off to you!

Elasticgirl Comments: Okay, so your model is gorgeous. I absolutely love her hair and that dress. I like the story, the rain, the background, all that. But I have a problem with the cage. First off, the dress is not cropped nicely and is very rough on the edges where it is out of the cage and on the ground. Secondly, the cage bottom is angled too much like the top half of a circle. I think it needs to be rounded more downward (as in the bottom half of a circle). In addition, it is sooo unreal and not a good choice to have the cage just half over your model with the whole bottom of her dress sticking out from the bottom of the cage and behind the cage—in these ways, it is very not well edited. I am a little disappointed in you since you have so much talent in you. I understand if this was a tough and busy week, but then you have to tell us so we can help you out. I would hate for you to be eliminated this week because you were super busy and carelessly edited a dress, a model, a cage, a bird, and a background together.

On topic with the assignment. And Imogen's face looks stunning. The quality was bit off with her years and the cage was obviously edited in. I do love her hair and makeup though! The picture looks amazing I just wish there was a bit more going on! Congrats!!
