Art through the Ages
Hey everyone! Welcome to your 4th challenge! Since I have 2 very dedicated challenge participants, I thought I would spice things up with yet another challenge. But this one has a twist! The winner of this challenge is granted IMMUNITY FROM EIMINATION for assignment 7! The runner up will receive 10 extra points to their overall assignment 7 score and then the 3rd place will get 7 points, 4th will get 6 points, and so on. This means the stakes are REALLY HIGH FOR THIS CHALLENGE AND Y’ALL BETTER PUT IN A LOT OF EFFORT!
For this challenge, you must re-create a famous PAINTING OF PEOPLE. I will provide several famous artists in a list below. You may choose to re-create the one of the paintings I provide below or you can re-create any other painting made by the artist you choose. If you are doing this challenge you must tell me what artist you want to do so that I can mark that artist and so no one else can do him/her. BUT if you are planning on DROPPING FROM THE CHALLENGE LATER ON, PLEASE DO NOT CHOOSE AN ARTIST BECAUSE OTHER PEOPLE WHO WILL COMPETE IN THIS CHALLENGE MAY WANT YOUR ARTIST.

CHARLIE WITH VERMEER! The Girl with the Pearl Earring Congrats on winning 10 extra bonus points to this week’s score! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]COMMENTS: I absolutely love this! Your model really looks just like Griet (the girl in the photo). I am a huge fan of this painting and definitely think you nailed it!! I love the softness and textures and especially the headpiece she is wearing! Which makes me ask, did you draw the whole scarf on her head??? Because it so, crazy awesome job! I also love how you gave the canvas texture to the entire photo to make it look like a real painting. The only thing I don’t like is that her eyes look a little vacant and she doesn’t look all too innocent (which if you read into the meaning of the painting and the one earring then you will see the real deep meaning). But other than that, awesome job! I really suggest you read the book The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Tracey Chevalier (I think). It’s an excellent historical fiction novel on Griet and the story behind the painting.

DANA with DA VINCI Congrats on winning 7 extra points to your overall score for this week! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]COMMENTS: I really like this photo and the lines and everything. It is very cleancut—the shadows are perfect, the symmetry, and the models. I think it’s very creative but what I don’t really like is the expressions on the models. I don’t like how boring and bland Dana’s face is. in addition, I don’t like the lingerie she is wearing. I don’t think it at all fits the drawing. But other than that, I think it’s okay (:

IMOGEN WITH ANDREW WYETH Congrats on winning 5 extra points to your overall score for this week! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]COMMENTS: I think you did a very good job. Overall, I like the mood and the photo. But there are somethings about it that I don’t like. I like how you took this painting to a new modern aspect but I don’t like the chair at all. It doesn’t fit with the morbid colorscheme and just seems out of place. Also, the room is a little questioning to me since IDK why she has this royalty wood chair in this dingy abandoned broken up room. Also, I think her pose is a little iffy and her right foot is a little awkward, as is her face. I wasn’t really expecting her to smile the way she is and honestly, this photo looks like your model is luring a guy playfully to her. so overall, nice job and thinking outside the box but I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite.

XD yeah totally  well I think i'll recreate one of Karl Bang's paintings . Now i can't really decide which, i hesitate between two. i'll tell as soon as i make up my mind. | Hahaha don't worry you'll catch on! I mean most of the artists are from the Renaissance and Baroque era except for some contemporaries like the Karl Bang guy and Waterhouse. But seriously, I learned all about these artists because last year I was in an advanced European History class (which had a lot of art involved with the wars and such) and then I also took some "intense" art classes where we had to paint like literally replications of famous artworks It was A LOT!!! | |
